"It's All Geek To Me" - Geek Week 2016

  • UWM Union Art Gallery 2200 E Kenwood Avenue Milwaukee, WI, 53211 United States (map)

Entry: Free (First come, first serve)

TEDxUWMilwaukee would like to extend an invitation to all, geeks and non-geeks alike to our upcoming TEDxSalon, "It’s All Geek To Me". At this event, we pose the question - where does normalcy end and geek begin? What do geeks contribute to our community?

Three local community members, three live talks.

Adam Hudson - Freelance Front-End Web Developer & Full-Time Instructor

NonprofIT is a program at UWM which builds upon the University's mission of community engagement by connecting student's IT expertise to nonprofit organizations. Students complete a semester long project like building a website, as part of a team for a nonprofit in the Milwaukee area whom may otherwise lack the resources or staffing to carry out the project. Students gain internship credit while working on a real project and engaging within the community.

Alex Francis - PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering & Biotechnology Entrepreneur

Matthew Meuleners - Professional Leadership Consultant & Trainer

Meuleners message explores the nature of geeks of all stripes, and how their various fixations drive them to achieve. Geekdom leads to mastery, long-range projects, innovation, and the rapid spread of ideas. Bottom line, we have a lot to learn from that guy who makes his own chainmail.
